by Kennedy Kechula in World Cup Predictions
In their penultimate match in the 2026 World Cup qualification process, England will be hosting Serbia at Wembley Stadium. The two are playing in Group K of the qualifiers, with this game finding England top of the standings on 18 points. Serbia are a distant third on 10 points. Read on for our prediction of this match.
For England, this game is just a formality, as they’ve already secured their ticket to next year’s World Cup finals. Manager Thomas Tuchel will be using this game and the next to assess a number of players in his team.
A few of his first-team players are out with injury. Meanwhile, Serbia suffered a low last time out with a loss at home to Albania. That threw their qualification hopes in jeopardy and occasioned the resignation of long-serving manager Dragan Stojkovic. In the first meeting between these two nations in this group, Serbia lost 5-0 at home.

England - Serbia: Form Analysis

The Three Lions have scored 18 times, and five of those goals came in the first meeting with Serbia. England will go in search of another win in their proud run in World Cup qualification.
Since 2009, they haven't lost a game in such qualifiers, and here they are chasing their 30th win, having drawn eight in that duration.
Serbia are meeting England for the third time, having lost twice before.
Serbia have 10 points in this group and could miss out on the 2026 World Cup with a loss here. Branded England’s toughest opponents in this group, they have seriously fallen short, their 5-0 defeat at home being a case in point.
Serbia have a new manager in Veljko Paunovic, a man with pedigree, having led Serbia U20 to World Cup success in 2015.
The former Real Oviedo coach has a tiny window to turn things around, as losing here ends his team’s World Cup qualification chances. They haven't lost an away game in the last five, drawing three, and will be keen on carrying that on.

England & Serbia Squad Analysis
The England camp has had to deal with a number of withdrawals ahead of this game, forced by injuries. Marc Guehi has been confirmed out and will be replaced by Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.
The Crystal Palace skipper suffered a foot injury in the team’s win over AZ Alkmaar. England will also be without Anthony Gordon. The Newcastle United forward missed the loss to Brentford with a hip injury, and the international break comes too soon for him.
started both of England’s matches in the last break and scored in the 5-0 win over Latvia. Gordon’s teammate, Nick Pope, is also out of the team after suffering a head injury over the weekend.
He will not be making an 11th appearance for the national team, having last featured in 2022.
Premier League players Nikola Milenković, Veljko Milosavljević, and Sasa Lukic will be facing familiar foes.
Serbia have called up a largely experienced team for the November assignments. Partizan Belgrade midfielder Vanja Dragejovic is the only uncapped player in the squad.
Scoring a goal and providing an assist in 14 matches this season definitely wasn’t the only yardstick for his selection. He has an 86.5% pass accuracy and a 50% success with his dribbles.
Dušan Vlahović will once again lead the Serbian attack, having scored twice in the current qualifiers. The Juventus man has six goals for his club despite enduring a tough start to the season.

Our England vs Serbia Prediction
England have done well in these qualifiers, and with the World Cup ticket confirmed, they’ll want to go all the way unbeaten. Welcoming Serbia to Wembley is the first advantage the Three Lions have. It is unimaginable that England could lose here.
They might even go with another clean sheet, given that they haven't conceded at all in the six matches they’ve played so far. In their two previous meetings with Serbia as well, England went undefeated and with clean sheets. With that in mind, our prediction for England v Serbia is for England to win to nil.
