The penultimate round of matches in Group A1 of the UEFA Women's Nations League will see England playing host to the Netherlands on Friday evening. The hosts are currently third in the group standings, while the visitors are in the lead. England are in a precarious position and have, at times, seemed to still be suffering the effects of a lengthy World Cup campaign. They have conceded late goals in this competition and lost two of their four matches. That leaves qualification for the 2024 Olympics out of their hands, with Belgium and Netherlands one and three points ahead, respectively. Therefore, even if the Dutch side fluff their lines here, England will need them to do so again in their last match and require Belgium to drop points as well. Nevertheless, back at Wembley, where they have a very good record, we are expecting a good performance from the Lionesses. 

Meanwhile, after topping their group before bowing out to Spain in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Netherlands have carried their impressive form into this competition. They sit atop the group with nine points and are a win and a draw away from securing a semi-final spot. Their final group-stage match will be against a dangerous Belgium outfit, which makes getting a result here all the more important. The Netherlands won the reverse fixture 2-1 back in week two of the competition and followed up with back-to-back wins over Scotland leading up to this match. They also kept consecutive clean sheets against the Scots, who may now be facing a relegation scrap. However, the last time the Dutch Women played in England, they found themselves on the wrong side of a 5-1 scoreline.
