Eintracht Frankfurt vs Salzburg Prediction & Betting Tips - Europa League

Eintracht Frankfurt have not had a very inspiring season and a heavy loss to Borussia Dortmund in their last match, makes it worse as they prepare to host Austrian side Salzburg in the knockout stages of the Europa League. Both Frankfurt and Salzburg lost their weekend matches in their domestic leagues; Salzburg fell 3-2 to LASK as Frankfurt lost 4-0 to Dortmund. They will both hope to put behind them the losses as they seek a first leg advantage. Eintracht Frankfurt’s loss brought to an end a run of five unbeaten matches, with four wins therein and it was also the only time they have failed to score in eight matches. They have three straight wins at home though, and have scored 10 goals and conceded one in the run. They will be hoping to transfer this form to the Europa League. While they scrapped through the group stages, they will want to improve on their defence, having conceded 10 goals in the six matches played, and scored eight. Five of their last six home matches across all competitions have produced over 2.5 goals, while in the Europa League, they lost two of their three group games at home.

On their part, Salzburg, playing just their second game in 2020, fell to LASK, right after beating Amstetten in the Austrian Cup. While the win over Amstetten was expected, the real test came against LASK, at home, and they were beaten. They will be going to this game against Eintracht Frankfurt without two of their key players from the Champions League group stages – Minamino and Erling Haaland who left in the winter break. How these exits will play out remains to be seen but for players who scored a combined 10 of the 16 goals in the group stage, they will be missed. As they exited the group stage of the Champions League, Salzburg’s main undoing was the defence; they conceded 13 in six matches. The Europa League is not a completely unfamiliar territory for Salzburg; they have nine wins and two losses in their last 11 matches in this competition. Each of the 11 matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored and they have failed to score in just one. They have scored two or more goals in nine of the 11 but kept just three clean sheets. They however have two straight away losses in the competition and four losses in the last seven.
