Irish side Dundalk were minutes away from a key win over Vitesse in the third qualifying round, first leg of their Europa League encounter in the Netherlands last week. It ended 2-2 and will hope they can count on home advantage to eliminate the Dutch side and make a big move themselves, to the play-offs. Dundalk got to this stage after wins over Estonia’s FCI Levadia and Welsh side Newton in the earlier two rounds. After their 2-2 draw in the Netherlands, Dundalk returned to a shocker in domestic action, losing 4-1 at home to St Patrick’s Athletic. That was the first time in five matches that they lost but their fourth match in five to produce over 2.5 goals. They have one clean sheet in five and in three of the five matches, they conceded two or more.

Vitesse needed a late goal to earn a first leg draw at home and going here, they will hope for a better performance. Lois Openda, scorer of their 88th minute equalizer is suspended for this game after getting sent off in the final minute of that clash. Vitesse are still favorites in this tie, but they are yet to shake off the preseason effects and going to their second game of the season, they’ll have to do better. They have no clean sheet in the last five matches though they’ve done well in attack, failing to score in just one of the five matches. Three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and both teams have scored four of the five.
