by Ian John in Championship Predictions
Our next Championship match prediction is a classic encounter with a rich history. Derby County host Leeds United in a game which would have been a top-of-the-league clash in the early 1970s. Can the Rams stop United’s relentless charge towards the Premier League?
A glance at the league table suggests maybe not, but dig a little deeper and the data reveals a more positive outlook for Derby County. Paul Warne’s team have a very good home record and have won their last two at home, scoring six goals and conceding just the one.
The Rams have six wins at home, with just three losses and they bounced back well from a 2-1 defeat away to Luton to beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 on Boxing Day in their previous match.
Leeds recent form is outstanding and it is based on outstanding home form which sees them taking 31 points out of 36 possible at home this season. They have won all their last five at Elland Road and currently sit top of the Championship table.
Away from home though, they have just two wins in their last five games, losing two and drawing the other. On a more positive note, Daniel Farke’s team have won their last two, defeating Oxford 4-0 at home and then Stoke City 2-0 on the road on Boxing Day.

Our Derby County vs Leeds Prediction
Our prediction for the Derby County vs. Leeds United Championship match is: A Draw.
The bookmakers have Leeds United as the big favourites to win this one, given their recent form, but a lot of that has been based on their home performances. Away from home Leeds have been far less impressive, while Derby's home form is strong. Pride Park is not an easy place to get a result, even for the Championship leaders, so the data overall suggests that this may well be a very close contest between the two.
