Denmark and the Netherlands are set to face off in the Olympic Games Women's Quarter Final of the handball competition on Tuesday afternoon. The winner of this match will move on to face either Norway or Brazil in the semi-final on August 8. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Denmark women’s handball team is the only team in the history of the sport to win three consecutive gold medals (1996, 2000, 2004), but they have experienced a notable decline since then.
However, they are en route to return to the podium this year, after finishing third in group A of the preliminary round with a 4-1 record, scoring 126 goals, while conceding 116, which was the second-fewest of any team in the group stage.
The Danes beat Slovenia (27-19), Sweden (25-23), Germany (28-27) and South Korea (28-20). Their only loss was to Norway (27-18).
Meanwhile, the Netherlands are featuring in their third consecutive Olympic Games, with their two previous campaigns ending in fourth place in 2016 and fifth in 2020.
Oranje Dames came second in Group B with a 4-1 record, including wins over Angola (34-31), Spain (29-24), Brazil (31-24) and Hungary (30-26). Their only defeat was was against France (32-28) in game two.
