Corentin Moutet is seeded 26th for the Mutua Madrid Open but is playing in round two for the first time. He takes on qualifier Daniel Merida in this outdoor clay court tournament. Time to read our match prediction.

Moutet received a bye into round two this year. The Frenchman has won three clay court matches this year but lost the same number. Each of his three clay court tournaments this year have seen him win his opening match but then be knocked out in the next round.

He is 30th in the live rankings so may well be seeded at the upcoming French Open.

Daniel Merida had never won a  main draw match in this tournament before this year. His one previous appearance was in 2022 when he was beaten in the qualifying rounds. He got through them this year beating Matco Trungelliti in his second match.

Trungelliti was then reinstated as a lucky loser and he again lost to the Spaniard in round one, this time in three sets.

Merida has won ten of his 13 clay court matches this year. He won a Challenger Tour title and then rreached the final of the ATP Bucharest tournament.  He's a career-high 86th in the live rankings. We tip him to win a set in tnis match.
