Manchester City need just six points to clinch the Premier League title and they’ll be looking to close in on it on Saturday when they travel to London to take on Crystal Palace. With five matches to go City are top of the standings on 77 points while Palace are 13th with 41 points. Palace have a game in hand but even with a win on Saturday, they’ll stay 13th. While they aren’t safe yet, it is highly unlikely that they’ll get involved in the relegation scrap later on in the season. They are 11 points above 18th placed Fulham and four points from their remaining six matches should be enough to guarantee safety. It hasn’t been easy for Palace in recent matches, they are coming from straight losses to top four sides Leicester City and Chelsea, having earlier drawn with Everton. It will be even tougher seeking a win against the league leaders who are coming from a good away win in the Champions League and with just one clean sheet in their last five league matches, keeping the City attack at bay will call for a lot. Roy Hodgson’s charges haven’t been clinical in attack, failing to score more than a goal in the last five matches, and defensively they’ve also struggled, conceding two or more in three of the last five. Having scored in each of the last five league matches, is however a good starting point as they seek improvement. Palace have four wins and five clean sheets in their last 15 league matches and at home, they have three clean sheets in the last five league games but won only once. In 16 league games at Selhurst Park this season, they’ve managed just five wins.

In the next two league matches, they could wrap up the title and shift focus on the Champions League but for now all attention is on Palace, with the visitors currently on three straight wins. They are eyeing a treble, and after the win in Paris, they may well get it, this is after winning the League Cup last weekend. Manchester City have just one clean sheet in their last five matches and save for one game, the loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup, they’ve managed to outscore their opponents. None of their four wins in the last five matches has had more than a one-goal margin though. Judged by their earlier form, they’ve struggled a bit in recent matches, it doesn’t look though like they’ll miss out on the league title. In their last five league matches, City have four wins and scored two or more in each of the wins, with the only loss in five coming at home to Leeds United. Pep Guardiola’s side has 10 straight away wins in the league and are unbeaten in 11. No team in the league has done better than them away from home this season, having managed 12 wins in the 16 away matches played. John stones will be suspended for this game after the red card against Aston Villa but with a variety of options, his absence will not be felt.
