Both Crystal Palace and Manchester City had good midweek wins in Europe. Now they return to the Premier League with Palace in fourth and visitors Manchester City in second place. Can the Eagles get a home win? Read our match prediction below.
Crystal Palace are five points behind City as they prepare for their 16th league game of the season. As you will read in the form section of this preview, December has already been a good month for them. It's a busy time for the flying high Eagles with not just the Premier League but another European game and a trip to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. Palace have been one of the teams of the year and in May beat City to win the FA Cup.
Manchester City have been edging closer to leaders Arsenal in the past few weeks. After last weekend the gap was just two points. It's very likely it'll be five by the time this game gets underway on Sunday with the Gunners fully expected to beat Wolves on Saturday. The Citizens are chasing a fifth successive win in all competitions but this trip to Selhurst Park is not going to be an easy one.

Crystal Palace - Manchester City: Form Analysis
Thursday evening saw Crystal Palace win 3-0 at Shelbourne in the Conference League. That maintained their 100% record in December after previously winning Premier League fixtures at Burnley and Fulham.
Palace need to earn more home league points.
Now they return to Selhurst Park and the Eagles do need to improve their league record on home soil. Only two of their seven home league matches have been won this season with four draws and a solitary loss to Manchester United in their most recent home league game.
After the last set of Premier League games, only five clubs had a poorer home record than Palace. Only one of their last four home league matches has been won. Both teams have scored in three of the last five played here.
Manchester City won at Real Madrid in midweek and that was their fourth win in a row since back-to-back losses to Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen. Two of those wins have come on the road and that's good news for Pep Guardiola.
City have the best home record in the Premier League but have only won three out of seven on their travels. Three away league games have already been lost by the Blues this season. Their most recent away fixture was won 5-4 at Fulham but City can't keep conceding so many goals.

Manchester City say that coach Pep Guardiola will be at Selhurst Park for this game. He missed a press conference on Thursday for what were described as "personal reasons." At least he doesn't have any fresh injury worries to concern him.
He has played the same starting line-up for the past two games, so a slight bit of squad rotation might come into play this weekend. Tijjani Reijnders may possibly start the game ahead of Bernardo Silva.
City haven't been that dominant on the road this season. They are improving though with recent wins at Fulham and Real Madrid. There's still the problem of conceding too many goals for Guardiola to try and sort out.
Crystal Palace have won both the FA Cup and Community Shield this year. Few Palace fans would have dared imagine they'd win more trophies in 2025 than Manchester City but that's what has happened.
Marteta is expected to be fit for Palace.
The Eagles have fitness doubts over Jean-Philippe Marteta and Ismaila Sarr. Marteta is expected to be fit and has been a key player for Palace this season, including a recent home hat-trick. Definitely out is Daniel Munoz. Nathaniel Clyne will return after being rested for their Conference League game.
