Crystal Palace - Arsenal: Form Analysis
Crystal Palace will be out in search of a first win against Arsenal since a 3-0 success in April of 2022. They gave up all six points to their London rivals last season as they lost both home and away. A win on Match Day 1 as well as playing their first home game of the season, will have them confident. Roy Hodgson’s charges won 1-0 away to promoted Sheffield United last time out. Though a slim victory, Palace dominated the match and had two goals ruled out. The win extended their current winning run to two matches after they had won their final match of pre-season. They beat Lyon 2-0 to end a two-game losing skid. The capital club lacked consistency in pre-season and won only three of the seven friendly matches played.
Arsenal also began the season with a win as they beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at home. Mikel Arteta’s men dominated but were unable to score more and had a tense ending after Forest scored late. The Gunners are looking to build on from their second-place finish last season. They are currently in fine form as they have won their last four fixtures with two being pre-season friendlies. Arsenal played five pre-season build-up matches and won three, lost one, and drew the other. Having won the Community Shield against Manchester City and defeating Forest, the London club will be confident of a sustained winning run. Arsenal have won three of the last five meetings with Palace with two of those victories coming while away.

Crystal Palace & Arsenal Squad Analysis
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is expected to name an unchanged team from the win against Sheffield here. There were concerns with the fitness of Marc Guehi after the defender was substituted late against Sheffield. It turned out to be cramping up and he will be fit for selection here. Midfielder Michael Olise committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract amidst interest from Chelsea. He is however not yet fit to be involved as he is recovering from injury. Striker Odsonne Edouard scored for yet another opening-day fixture and will once again be relied upon to lead the line.
Arsenal were dealt a major blow on Match Day 1 as new signing Jurrien Timber tore his ACL. The defender faces missing the entire season. He joins Gabriel Jesus in the treatment room. The striker has not played for the club since suffering an injury in pre-season. Mikel Arteta can however have Oleksandr Zinchenko back with the defender returning to training after recovering from a calf injury. Academy graduates Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka scored in the win against Forest and could pair up again in attack. New signing Kai Havertz is another goal-scoring threat for the Gunners. The former Chelsea man scored twice in pre-season and has also looked lively in his last two matches. He scored twice against Palace when with Chelsea including in his last match against them in January. Among the new faces we expect of the Arsenal bench is goalkeeper David Raya, who has joined from Brentford.

Both teams to score
Both teams to score is also a good pick. As magnificent as Arsenal have been in attack, they have been shaky at the back. With Palace proving to be a decent attacking side, Arsenal’s wait for a clean sheet could be prolonged.
