The Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, will host UFC Fight Night this weekend, headlined by Cory Sandhagen facing Deiveson Figueiredo in the bantamweight division. The Sandman has a pro record of 17-5-0, while Deus da Guerra is 24-4-1. Check out our match prediction below!
Cory Sandhagen will be stepping back inside the Octagon for the first time since his momentum was stopped in August last year when he lost via unanimous decision to Umar Nurmagomedov.
That defeat took the Sandman’s UFC record to 10-4, but before that, he had posted three consecutive victories, beating Song Yadong and Marlon Vera by decision and Rob Font via a doctor's stoppage.
The number-four-ranked American utilises movement and volume of strikes to wear down opponents, and has never been knocked out in his career, with four of his five losses coming from the judge's scorecard.
Meanwhile, Deiveson Figueiredo needs little introduction. The two-time flyweight champion stepped up a weight class in 2023 and racked up three consecutive wins at bantamweight.
His debut victory came against Rob Font before he submitted Cody Garbrandt and got a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera. However, he was evidently second best in his last bout against Petr Yan.
The God of War is a proper brawler, but will have to be wary of Sandhagen, who has shown his ability to absorb strikes and has a sizeable height and reach advantage.
