Clara Tauson is seeking to end Swiatek’s streak against her and win her first match in this fixture. The Dane, who is yet to lose a set in this year’s competition, has been in exceptional form.

She hasn’t lost more than three sets in two matches, defeating Lucia Bronzetti and Yuliia Starodubtseva. The win over Starodubtseva saw her improve to 30 wins in 45 outings and jump to 18th in the live ranking - a career high. Tauson made the Dubai final earlier in the year.

Iga Swiatek is in a rich vein of form and looks finally to have found the dominant form that has characterised her career. The world number three hasn’t lost in nine consecutive matches and in this run has lost just one set.

Swiatek, who arrived in Montreal after triumphing at Wimbledon, hasn’t lost more than four games a match this week. She defeated Eva Lys to advance to this round and claim her 44th win of the season. Swiatek defeated Tauson at SW19 by the loss of just five games in their most recent duel.
