Chicago Fire are eighth in the Eastern Conference and only four points off the play-offs with the top six qualifying. They host Toronto FC who are two places below them and one off the bottom of the table. Toronto have two games in hand on their opponents but trail them by seven points. Considering bottom of the table DC United are two points below them but with four games in hand, Toronto are really struggling at present. Neither side are in good form though with Chicago having lost their last three league games but did get a confidence boosting 4-0 win over Louisville City in the US Open Cup. There have been a few goals flying in lately with 21 scored in their last four league matches, though only nine were scored by Chicago. Home form this season has seen them win four, draw two but lose five but they have seven points from the last four and only lost 4-3 at home to Philadelphia Union thanks to a 95th minute winner having equalized a minute beforehand.

Toronto FC have little chance of making the play-offs and may have to concentrate more on not finishing bottom of the table.  Not surprising since they have only one point from their last five league games. Away form is a big problem for the Canadian side just five points from 12 league games on the road. They have conceded ten goals in their last four away matches, conceding at least twice in each of them and earning just one point. Chicago can boost their play-off hopes with a home win in this game.
