Chelsea lost at Liverpool on Wednesday and they are yet to confirm their place in the Champions League next season. They begin this final game against sixth placed Wolves in fourth, behind Manchester United on goal difference and a point ahead of Leicester in fifth. A win for United at Leicester will see Chelsea finish in the top four regardless of how this game goes. If Leicester win, Chelsea will need to beat Wolves. A draw between Leicester and Manchester United will see Chelsea needing to at least get a draw from this match. Chelsea have won each of their last five home league games. That includes victories over both Tottenham and Manchester City. Their fixture list has been kind to them though with the last two visitors to Stamford Bridge being Watford and Norwich City. They have won 10 out of 18 home league matches this season with five losses. That’s an area in which they need to improve next season if they want to challenge for the title. 18 games have produced 33 points, that’s compared to the 44 Manchester City have earned and 52 by Liverpool from the same number of home fixtures.

Wolves are sixth in the table and that’s the highest they can finish. They are a point clear of Tottenham in seventh and a win here will clinch a place in next season’s Europa League. If they do drop below Tottenham (who are away to out-of-form Crystal Palace), they will need Chelsea to win the FA Cup for them to qualify. However, being optimistic, they could win the Europa League this season and be in the Champions League next season. They had a bad spell with two straight league losses but have recovered with seven points from their last three matches. Away form has seen Wolves earn just a point from their last two league fixtures. Seven have been won on the road this season but seven drawn with four losses. Wolves have drawn 14 times in the Premier League this season and just three of those being won would now have them in third instead of Chelsea. Go for Chelsea to get the win here.
