Chelsea are overwhelming favourites to beat Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. They have had an inconsistent season but their win at Burnley on Thursday evening narrowed the gap between them and fourth placed Tottenham to just five points with four games to go. So, still an outside chance of Champions League football next season but that bid continues next 0week and before that they can dispose of Southampton in the FA Cup, a result that would all but assure Burnley of Europa League football. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last three games since that home defeat to Tottenham at the start of the month. They still aren't firing on anything like all cylinders but should have enough in the tank to get past Southampton.

The Saints are looking doomed to relegation after a draw at Leicester on Thursday evening left them four points from safety. Five days before that draw, they looked to be booked for three points as they led Chelsea 2-0 with 20 minutes to go, only to collapse and lose 3-2. Southampton haven't won any of their four games played since winning in the FA Cup quarter finals and three of those games have been lost. They have won more FA Cup games this year than Premier League matches but haven't exactly had the hardest of paths to the last four with Championship side Fulham, League One Wigan and Premier League Watford and West Brom. They have just that win over a side two divisions below them - but likely league opponents next season - in their last eight games. Back Chelsea to get the win in 90 minutes.
