Chelsea improved their chances of a top four finish in the Premier League with a 2-1 home win over Spurs at the weekend. They have another vital home match as they host Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last sixteen tie in the Champions League. Chelsea would probably have preferred the game at Stamford Bridge to be the second leg. They will take heart from the fact that Liverpool beat Bayern last season over two legs after a goalless home first leg. Chelsea's home form is a bit inconsistent though. They had failed to win either of their last two home league games before the victory over Spurs on Saturday. They weren't that dominant at home in the group stages with a win over Lille, defeat by Valencia and somehow drawing 4-4 with Ajax.

Bayern Munich top the Bundesliga despite a slow start to their season. That wasn't the case in the Champions League though as they won all six of their games scoring 21 goals. They will have fond memories of their previous game in London, when beating Spurs 7-2. Bayern won their most recent league game on Friday and are now unbeaten in their last 11 competitive games. Six of their last seven away matches have been won with 25 goals scored. Up against an often fragile Chelsea defence, Bayern can get the away win.
