Chelsea have completed a round trip in Europe and bagged two trophies; now they come back home to domestic action and first on their roster is a home game against Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The Blues, champions of Europe added to their cabinet the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday and will start the league campaign on a high. They beat Villarreal on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Belfast right ahead of this game. The Blues will be hoping to carry on with this form especially in attack, having scored in each of their last five, winning three. In three of their last four matches, they have scored two goals, though each of their three wins in the five matches has been on one-goal margins. The European champions are set to get Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, which further strengthens the team but it isn’t likely he will feature in this game.

At Crystal Palace, new manager Patrick Vieira is doing a great job since taking over and will hope he can stop the seven-game losing streak to Chelsea. Last season alone, Palace conceded eight goals and scored one in the two matches against Chelsea. As they make this short trip to Stamford Bridge, it will be baptism by fire for the former Arsenal midfielder and he is expected to field defensively. Vieira has made some interesting moves in the transfer market and the team should be better than it was last season under Roy Hodgson. Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi, Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen are all good signings though they won’t be expected to kick in immediately. The Eagles have done well in preseason, but it going to be different here. They have four wins and a draw in five preseason matches and have also scored in all the five, two times or more in the last three and keeping two clean sheets in the five.
