Going to the game, Chelsea are eighth with 30 points and Burnley are placed 15th with 22 points. Chelsea have three wins in their last five matches but it is their form in the Premier League that has attracted questions over the team’s ambitions. The London side has two wins and five losses in the last nine matches. In the last 10 matches, they have only three clean sheets despite being billed among the strongest defensively at some point. The draw with Wolves marked the second straight league game that Chelsea have failed to score in. A massive drop in confidence has been spotted in their recent matches, and the team hasn’t scored more than a goal in eight of the last nine games. It has been dipping at home too, and going to this clash they have no win in the last three league matches at home.

Burnley lost 3-0 in their meeting with Chelsea in October. Lately, they have been in great form and will look at this as a game they can win. A highlight of the good times in recent matches is that they have three straight wins. In the three wins, Burnley have two clean sheets and scored seven goals. The last two matches have broken from the norm by producing over 2.5 goals. Burnley’s matches are rarely high scoring, and the two are the only ones out of 12 to yield three goals. The back to back wins also mark their best spell this season. Burnley are from an impressive comeback to beat Aston Villa 3-2, only the second time they have scored two or more in the last 15. In the last five away league matches, Burnley have failed to score in three and under 2.5 goals have come from their last five away league games. Away wins at Liverpool and Arsenal will give them confidence heading to Stamford Bridge.
