Charlton Athletic lost again in midweek and have dropped to 17th in the Championship. They look to return to winning ways when hosting 13th placed Hull City who are six points ahead of them. Charlton made a strong start to the new seaso with an unbeaten run of six games with four victories. That took them into the play-off positions but their form has dipped dramatically with just two wins from the last 15 league matches. All of the last four have been lost and it's not been the hardest of fixture lists either. The highest placed opponents in that quartet were Sheffield Wednesday, currently seventh in the table. The other three losses were all against sides currently in the bottom six. Charlton have lost the last two without scoring and at home, they have one point from their last four games. Rather than thinking about promotion back to the Premier League, Charlton are now concerned about relegation with only a gap of six points between them and the bottom three.  Home form is going to be important in the coming weeks but after this match, they have three games at the Valley against sides currently placed second to fourth.

Hull City are 13th but only five points behind the final promotion play-off position. They aren't easy to fathom out because two of their last three league games have ended in defeat. One against Leeds who are top of the table and the other against Barnsley who are bottom. Inbetween those two matches, Hull beat Stoke who are also in the bottom three. Five of their last nine league games have been won though, so on their day they are a good side that could get into the play-offs. Away form is a puzzle too with losses at Barnsley and Huddersfield but wins at Nottingham Forest and Fulham. With the home side struggling for form and goals, a double chance bet on Hull to win or draw this game is the suggested bet.
