Casper Ruud vs Holger Rune Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP French Open

It's Norway v Denmark in the last eight at Roland Garros. Eighth seeded Casper Ruud takes on the Dane Holger Rune who is enjoying a successful clay court season. Ruud is the world number eight but can climb to seventh if winning this match and Andrey Rublev loses to Marin Cilic. He is in his first Grand Slam quarter final having previously having a best of the fourth round in the 2021 Australian Open. The last three years have seen Ruud knocked out in the third round at Roland Garros but finally he's got past that stage at Roland Garros. The 2022 clay court season has seen him get to the last four in Rome and the quarter finals in both Barcelona and Munich. So far at Roland Garros this year, he's had wins over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (after going a set down), Emil Russuvouri, 32nd seed Lorenzo Sonego in five sets (trailing 2-1 at one stage) and in the last 16, Hubert Hurkacz in four sets.

Holger Rune was ranked 312th in the world this time last year. 2022 began with him in 103rd place but he's been zooming up the rankings this year. Rune began this tournament in 40th position but is up to 28th in the live rankings and can go up to 21st if beating Ruud. The Dane has won one clay court tournament this year, being successful in Munich and beating Alexander Zverev on the way. He's also a Challenger Tour event held in Sanremo, Italy. Prior to this tournament, Rune got to the last four in Lyon, losing to eventual champion Cameron Norrie. This is his first time at Roland Garros and only his third time in the main draw of a Grand Slam. The two others both saw him beaten in the first round. He's done much better here with wins over 14th seeded Denis Shapovalov, Henri Laaksonen and Hugo Gaston, all in straight sets. He finally lost a set in the last 16 when beating fourth seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rune has played Ruud on three previous occasions in the past year or so. All three were won by Ruud in straight sets and each one won in straight sets. Ruud might find this a bit more difficult but he can get the win to reach his first Grand Slam semi-final.
