23rd-placed Cardiff City play host to 10th-placed West Bromwich at Cardiff City Stadium on matchday 45 in the Championship. Here's our match prediction. 

Cardiff are barely hanging by a thread in the Championship in their bid to avoid demotion to League One for the first time in 22 years. 

They are second to bottom in the league standings and are three points adrift of safety. To avoid relegation, they will need to win their two remaining games. However, going up against West Brom and Norwich proves a challenge.

The Blue Birds' league performance doesn't help their case either, as they are staring down the barrel of a six-match winless run (D4, L2). On Monday, they squandered a one-goal lead to play a 1-1 home draw against Oxford United.

West Bromwich still have the opportunity to conclude the Championship inside the promotion play-off places, that's if they play their cards right. However, one would say they are banking on a fluke.

The Baggies are six points behind the top six in the league standings, and for their dreams to come into existence, they need the four teams ahead of them to drop points in the remaining two games.

Their league performance doesn't offer much inspiration, given that they have lost five of their last six games. Last time out, they lost 3-1 at home against Derby County, extending their losing streak to two games.
