Canada meet the USA in the Gold Medal Game in the Men’s Ice Hockey at the Winter Olympics on Sunday. The battle of North America is always a great watch, so let’s make a prediction on the match.
Canada were the pre tournament favourites and that should be no surprise as the nation who have dominated hockey through so much of its history. They were unbeaten in their group but had to really battle to overcome Finland in the semis.
It has been a cruise for the most part for the USA as well, comfortable winners of their group games but they have been a little looser on the blue line than they would have liked at times.
These teams have almost taken it in turns when it has come to winning against one another, 5-5 in their last 10 with four of those going under the usual 5.5 spread and six over. Eight were over 4.5, however.
This has a tight matchup written all over it, with these players knowing one another like the back of their hands. Goals could be at a premium even with the quality of players out on the ice.
