Argentine giants River Plate haven’t been at their best in recent matches in the Liga Profesional but will be targeting three points when they host Lanus in their next game. Both teams are five points below the leading side, having managed five points from four matches in the second phase of the league. River Plate have in reality, struggled in attack in their recent matches, even though they are coming from a 5-1 win over Union. Before that win they had gone goalless in three straight games. River Plate have two wins in five matches and two clean sheets. In the last three meetings with Lanus, River Plate have registered straight wins.

Lanus are coming from their first win of the second phase of the league. They beat Colon 1-0 to get it underway and will be eyeing a big scalp here. The problem is that they haven’t had a great run against River Plate coming into this game, while they have the same issues in attack as River Plate’s. Lanus haven’t managed more than a goal in their last five matches but they have three clean sheets in that run, while they have failed to score in just one of their last five matches. Four of their last five matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
