Watford’s playoff hopes will be put to the test when they travel to Burnley this weekend in the Championship. This match at Turf Moor on Saturday will see the third-placed Clarets look to stay within touching distance of the top two as they host the seventh-placed Hornets looking to move up the ladder.

Ahead of this round, Burnley are third with 41 points and only one behind second-placed Leeds, while Watford are seventh with 34 points and only behind the top six by goal difference. Burnley defeated Norwich 2-1 in their last match, extending their unbeaten run to eight matches, where they won five matches.

It is their impressive defensive record that keeps Burnley ahead of the competition, with their record of eight goals against the best in the league. At home too, they have kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven home league matches. Watford will look to break that sequence as they come here on the back of a 2-1 win over West Brom.

That result kept them unbeaten across six matches, keeping them in the hunt for a top-six finish. Only five teams have scored more than Watford’s 29 goals this season, and that could give them an opening against the league’s best defence.

Despite such impressive numbers, the Hornets have struggled on the road, losing seven of their last ten away league games. Yet, a win and two draws from their last four away trips mean they could look to come back from this trip with at least a point.
