A relegation six-pointer in matchday 14 of the English Premier League sees bottom-placed Burnley hosting 18th-place Sheffield United. Burnley have accumulated just four points from the first 13 fixtures of the season, putting them one point behind their opponents today and five points from safety. Burnley are still searching for their first points at Turf Moor this season as they had previously become the first English team to lose their first six home games in a row. That record extended to seven games following a 2-1 defeat to West Ham last weekend. Sheffield United have suffered through an equally difficult start to their return to the Premier after a two-year hiatus. Paul Heckingbottom’s side have accumulated just five points from their first 13 matches, putting them just a single point above their opponents today. A win for the Blades would see them still in the relegation zone but they could close the gap with Luton Town to just a single point should the Hatters lose. Sheffield have shown some positive signs in recent league fixtures. They secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Wolves in matchday 11 and followed that up with a 1-1 draw away with Brighton. The Blades were unable to maintain their unbeaten run, however, as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat to Bournemouth last weekend. Sheffield have the worst defensive record in the league with 33 goals allowed in their 13 matches.
