Brighton & Hove Albion will continue their quest for European qualification when they face Premier League basement club Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Amex on Saturday afternoon. The Seagulls, currently in eighth place, can move as high as sixth with three points here. Given that Wolves have not won a game in over two months, our prediction is that the home side will win this match fairly comfortably.
After an excellent run of form since mid-April, Fabian Hurzeler’s side’s momentum was halted at St. James’ Park last weekend. However, the Seagulls are still firmly in the race for Europe, and they will be targeting maximum points from their next two games (Wolves and Leeds) before meeting Man United on the final day of the season.
As for the Old Gold, the final three games of the season are a mere formality, as they have known for a while now that they will be a part of the Championship next term. While they were able to take a point from the reverse fixture, this week’s visitors have not won a match at the Amex since 2021 and are massive underdogs in this one. Let’s get into the key stats!

Brighton - Wolves: Form Analysis
Brighton & Hove Albion suffered a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United on the road last weekend, which brought an end to their five-match unbeaten run since March 14 in the Premier League (W4 D1).
Notably, that was the first time that the Seagulls conceded three goals in a league match since December 3 against Aston Villa. They have allowed just 42 goals this season - the third-fewest in the top flight to date.
The hosts have won three of their last four home games - losing only to EPL leaders Arsenal in this period - and have earned 30 points from 17 league matches at the Amex this season (W8 D6 L3).
Only Arsenal and Man City have conceded fewer home goals than Brighton this season!
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers played over an hour with a man advantage against Sunderland last week, but they were still held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by the Black Cats at Molineux.
The Old Gold are now winless in their last five league games and have still only won three EPL matches this term. They are also the lowest-scoring team in the top flight with 25 goals in 35 matches.
The visitors have conceded 10 goals in their last four away games and have earned just five points on the road (W0 D5 L12). They are the only team in the division that has failed to win a single away game this season.

Brighton & Wolves Squad Analysis
Danny Welbeck notched up an assist in the defeat to the Magpies last week and now has 14 Premier League goal contributions this season. He has also scored four goals in his last four home league matches.
Another player to keep an eye on this weekend is Jack Hinshelwood, who has scored in his last two league games and has been thriving since being moved into the number 10 role by Hurzeler in late February.
The Seagulls are expected to be without at least six players due to injury this week, including Mats Wieffer, Solly March, Diego Gomez, James Milner, Stefanos Tzimas and Adam Webster.
Welbeck has scored three goals in his last three home league games against Wolves!
Rob Edwards handed 19-year-old Pedro Lima a rare start against Sunderland last week. However, the teenager was hooked at the halftime break and is likely to be replaced by Rodrigo Gomes in the starting lineup this weekend.
Nigerian international Tolu Arokodare led the line last week from the off last week. While he was unable to get a goal, he did record five shots and achieved 0.58 xG, which could be enough to earn him a starting role again.
With Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone both sidelined, Daniel Bentley is expected to start in goal again this week. Ladislav Krejci, Enso Gonzalez and Leon Chiwome are also ruled out for this trip to the south coast.
