Brighton vs Newcastle Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Brighton look to ensure their top-flight safety when they host Newcastle in the Premier League at The Amex on Monday night. The Seagulls are 15th at the time of writing, six points clear of the relegation zone with two games to play. They have a nine-goal advantage over Bournemouth even if the Cherries were to make up the points deficit, but Brighton would rather not leave anything to chance. They welcome a Newcastle side that is currently 13th in the table. While a top-ten finish is no longer possible, the Magpies could still finish as high as 11th. Brighton boss Graham Potter will be confident that his side can avoid defeat as they have done on the last five occasions they have played Newcastle. The reverse fixture earlier in the season was a forgettable goalless draw. Potter would take that now, for it would be a result that would end a run of three consecutive home defeats. To be fair to Brighton, the caliber of opponents on that losing run has been very high with both Manchester giants and Liverpool all visiting. Newcastle aren't nearly as impressive away from home as those sides and they have lost four of their last six matches away. 

Neal Maupay got on the scoresheet on the last occasion that Brighton won at home, 2-1 against Arsenal, and he was among the goals during their 1-1 draw at Southampton. He is Brighton's top goalscorer with 10 and would be a decent first-goalscorer bet here. What seems likelier, though, is that no goals will be scored at all. Four of the last five matches between these two teams have featured fewer than two goals. Two of those matches were goalless draws. We suggest backing under 1.5 goals for a contest between two of the lowest-scoring teams in the division.
