Brentford vs Swansea Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Daniel Ngulu | in Championship Prediction
Brentford and Swansea renew their rivalry this Saturday as they face off in the promotion playoff final. A spot in the Premier League is up for grabs for the winner in this game, a replay of last season’s semi final, which Brentford won 3-2 on aggregate. In the playoff system in English football, Brentford holds the mantle for the unluckiest team after failing to gain promotion through it in nine attempts. This time they hope it can get better, and especially after staging a great fight and fine comeback to see off Bournemouth in the semis. Brentford had the tougher fixture in the playoff semis and after losing the first leg 1-0 to Bournemouth, it looked like their history with playoffs would persist. However, they rose from 1-0 down in the second leg to beat Bournemouth 3-1 and seal their place in the final. Last season Brentford were also in this situation, and lost to Fulham; this season, they’ll surely hope to finish this off successfully. In the regular season, these teams drew 1-1 in both meetings, making it three unbeaten outings for Brentford after the win in the playoff semis last season.
Swansea have beaten Brentford just once in the last six meetings and lost three. As history has it however, all that will matter less when the two face off in the final and the Welsh side will hope to win this. The Swans had a more labored performance in the semis, beating Barnsley 2-1 on aggregate and will also be on revenge mission here as they seek a Premier League slot. Last season, Brentford blocked their way to the top flight with a win at the semis and they’ll be looking to cash in on the London side’s misfortunes in playoffs. In their last seven matches, Swansea have managed just two wins and their only clean sheet in that run was against Barnsley in the first leg of the semi finals. Wayne Routledge will be out of this game after being stretchered off in the semis but a lot of the attacking strategy will be centered on Andre Ayew, their top scorer for the season.

Our Brentford vs Swansea Prediction
Brentford have failed to seal promotion through playoffs a number of times. However, they go to this game as firm favorites and they had a more assuring passage to the final. Swansea labored a bit against Barnsley and they have struggled in their recent meetings with Brentford. Back Brentford to win this.
