Brentford vs Bristol City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Brentford play their first Championship game of the new year after their cup exploits. They are currently fourth in the table and have a home game against Bristol City who are down in tenth. Brentford may have lost out in the EFL Cup semi-final but beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Saturday. They are two points behind second placed Swansea City but with a game in hand. Victory over Bristol City will take them into the second and final automatic promotion place, unless Bournemouth beat Millwall the previous night. The Bees need to get back onto the job of reaching the Premier League for the first time in their history. They have won their last three league fixtures, scoring eight goals in the process. Those wins have extended their unbeaten league run to 15 games since a loss to Stoke City in late October. Home form has seen no defeats in their last nine.

Bristol City were in the promotion play-off positions earlier in the season but are in bad form at present. They struggled to get past League One Portsmouth in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday. Back in the Championship, City have lost five of their last seven league games. A form guide for the last five league games has them one from bottom and 19th for the last ten. Four of their last five away league matches have been lost, the other a win at struggling QPR on the first day of December. Only in two of their last 17 away league games have they kept a clean sheet. They are still only four points behind the final play-off position so all is not lost. This is another tough task for them and Brentford can get another home win.
