Chelsea got a humbling experience in Europe, as they were whacked by Bayern Munich in the Champions League and now they will be shifting focus to the Premier League, where they travel to Bournemouth. Ahead of the game, Bournemouth are 16th with 26 points and Chelsea fourth with 44 points. It has not been an easy ride for Bournemouth; they have won just four of their last 18 matches. One of these wins came against Chelsea away in London and with the Blues coming from a 3-0 loss in the Champions League, Bournemouth will be keen to add to their woes. However, with back to back losses, and three losses in the last five matches, they don’t seem to have the run of form that would give them that confidence going to this clash. They have no clean sheet in their last seven matches and have managed only one in their last 12 matches. Bournemouth’s three wins in the last 12 matches have come against struggling sides; they have beaten relegation threatened Championship side Luton in the FA Cup, and registered wins over Aston Villa and Brighton, both who are in the Premier League’s bottom 15. They go to this game with back to back losses to Sheffield United and Burnley and having conceded nine in the last five matches, they will have serious concerns about their defence. They however have back to back wins at home in the Premier League – over Brighton and Aston Villa – but with no clean sheet in the last seven.

Chelsea on the other hand, have managed just two wins in their last seven matches. They are hanging on in the Champions League places in light of the pressure from below, even though they seem assured of taking part in the competition next season. They have had a tough run of matches recently, playing Leicester, Manchester United, Tottenham and Bayern Munich in a space of 24 days. They have lost twice in the last three matches and with even tougher matches ahead, they will look at this as a must win game. They have no clean sheet in their last seven matches and have won four of their last 10 matches, losing three. Four of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they will be banking on their away form that has seen them lose just one of their last six matches, winning three. Chelsea have scored in 14 of their last 15 away matches and have scored at least two goals in four of their last six. They however have one away win in five Premier League matches, with no clean sheet registered in the run. They lost 4-0 in their last trip to Bournemouth and they will be keen to see a better result off this visit. They also lost the first leg meeting 1-0. These sides have never played to a draw and in the last five meetings, Bournemouth have managed three wins.
