A place in the top four in Bundesliga is all Borussia Dortmund can play for now, and they’ll be eyeing three points in that push, when they host Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund are currently fifth with 46 points while Werder Bremen have 30 points, in 13th place. The hosts’ Champions League run was ended by Manchester City and the best they can do to have any positives in a difficult season is a top four finish. They are currently seven points below fourth placed Eintracht Frankfurt and if they want to close the gap, they’ll have to focus more on better defending. In the last eight matches, Dortmund have one clean sheet and in the remaining seven they’ve conceded two or more goals. The team’s main source of goals, Norwegian Erling Haaland is going through a tough spell, and has failed to score in the team’s last four matches, with rumors rife he may leave at the end of the season. While they lost their last league game at home, they’ve done well there, losing once and winning four of the last seven. Dortmund have scored in all their 14 league matches at home. Going to this game, Jadon Sancho and Youssufa Moukoko are injured and won’t play a part.

Werder Bremen head to the game with four losses in the last five matches. Their only win in that run came in the German Cup, against lower league side Jahn Regensburg. It leaves the team with four straight losses in the league and just four points above the relegation playoff spot. Werder Bremen are coming from a 4-1 loss at home to Leipzig after once again getting dominated for long spells, leaving them with just one clean sheet in the last eight league matches. They’ve however failed to score in just two of the eight matches. Three of their last four league matches have produced over 2.5 goals and in their last five away matches, Werder Bremen have two wins, two losses and a clean sheet. In the 14 away league matches this season, Werder have managed just four wins.
