Dortmund come into this game not just with a win from their opening Champions League group game but top of the Bundesliga. Last season wasn't so good for them as they failed to make it out of their group but it's looking a lot better this time around and a win over Monaco will further strengthen their chances of making it into the knock-out rounds. The German side are unbeaten in their last eight competitive matches and scored 11 goals in their last two Bundesliga matches and lead the table by a point from Bayern Munich. They have to prove their improved form can be carried into this competition as they have failed to win any of their last four home games in the Champions League including a defeat by Monaco in the 2016/17 Champions League.

Monaco are playing catch-up after losing their first game in this group 2-1 at home to Atletico Madrid. They might have to make the most of playing in the Champions League this season because an appearance next season isn't looking likely. In fact, while their opponents are top of their league, Monaco are in the Ligue 1 relegation zone with only two teams below them. Eight league games have produced just one win with three draws and four defeats. They have gone eight league and cup games without a win and gone nine Champions League games without a victory since a couple of wins over Dortmund two seasons ago. Dortmund can get their revenge and win this match.
