Borussia Dortmund plays host to Cologne at the Signal-Iduna-Park this weekend for a clash in the Bundesliga. Second in the table, they are a point behind Bayern Munich after capitalising on the German champions slipping up last weekend. Erling Haaland scored four goals for Dortmund in a 5-2 win away to Hertha Berlin. He followed this up with two goals in the 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday night, taking his tally for the season to 22 in 15 games for club and country. Cologne, 17th in the table, are still searching for their first league win of the campaign. Eight games into the season, Cologne's winless run in the top flight is now at an alarming 18 games. Stopping the rot will be tough against a striker enjoying his football as much as Haaland. Cologne are winless in seven matches against Dortmund, losing the last four. In each of those losses, Cologne conceded three or more goals. The last time out, in January 2020, Cologne felt the force of Haaland, who, in only his second game in a Dortmund shirt, scored twice in a 5-1 home win.

Dortmund have won five of their last six home matches in all competitions, the only defeat being a narrow one to Bayern Munich. That Bayern defeat was also the one game on that run in which Dortmund failed to keep a clean sheet. Cologne did not win any of their last eight away matches in the league. Encouragingly for Cologne boss Markus Gisdol, his side picked up points in both of their most recent two away outings. They also scored in seven of those eight games mentioned above, proving that getting goals isn't their problem. We foresee a high-scoring contest. Put your money on over 3.5 goals.
