Borussia Dortmund start their campaign in Bundesliga with a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt with both sides looking to improve on their performances last season. For Dortmund, putting in a bigger challenge for the league title will be it after only scrambling to secure Champions League football late in the season. They did win the DFB Pokal though, and going to this game they’ll be boosted by the good start to the DFB Pokal defence, having thrashed Wehen Wiesbaden 3-0 away. Erling Haaland scored three goals in the game, officially announcing himself after a rather silent preseason. That was the second straight 3-0 win for Dortmund and fourth win in five; they’ve only lost once – 2-0 against Athletic Bilbao. They have scored two goals or more in their four wins and have three clean sheets in the last five matches.

A poor run towards the final stages of the Bundesliga last season cost Eintracht Frankfurt a place in the top four. This time they will be keen to do their business early enough to avoid such shocks. Among the teams that rose past them, was Dortmund, who would go on to finish four points to the good, in third place. It hasn’t been a particularly good start to the season for Frankfurt, who head here with the stain of a loss to third tier side Waldhof Mannheim in the DFB Pokal. They were beaten 2-0 and Martin Hinteregger was sent off in that game. They will definitely have to improve from that as they go to an even tougher match. Frankfurt have no clean sheet in their last four matches, and five losses in their last 10 games doesn’t place them well going to this clash.
