Brazilian giants Flamengo will hope to avert another Copa Libertadores Round of 16 exit when they visit Bolivar. Despite Fluminense leading 2-0 after the first leg, this tie is far from being settled. Read on for our preview and prediction of the match.
Bolivar suffered a late setback in Brazil, conceding the second goal a minute to full time. That made their work tougher, having gone to half time trailing 1-0. As they get to host Fluminense for the second time this season, they will be banking on home advantage.
The Bolivian side has three straight home wins this season in the Libertadores. Also, Flavio Robatto’s side is unbeaten in 23 matches at home and has seven wins in eight home games in this competition.
The only team to beat Bolivar at home in the last 12 Libertadores matches was a Brazilian side – Internacional. Flamengo will hope to replicate that, though they only need a draw or not to lose by more than a goal to advance.
Last season, they were eliminated at this stage. Heading into this game, they aren’t on a great run, and that could be a major worry for the visitors. They have one win in the last five matches and lost three times in that run.
That win was in the first leg meeting with Bolivar. As they embark on this journey to La Paz, Flamengo are on a three-match losing run away from home. Rubro-Negro failed to score in two of the three away matches and have no win in seven away matches in Libertadores.
