Boca Juniors are in desperate need of a response when they host Union Santa Fe for matchday two of the Argentine Primera Division Clausura stage on Friday. Read on for our prediction for this match between the sixth-placed Xeneize and fourth-place Tatengue!
It’s been a rough couple of months for Boca fans. After missing out completely on both the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana, the team would then be sent packing in the quarter-finals of the Primera Division Apertura back in May.
One of the only bright spots during these months was the team’s involvement in the Club World Cup, but Boca would be eliminated in the group stage after failing to win a match. After returning to domestic duties, they were held to a 0-0 stalemate away from home against Argentinos Juniors in the Clausura opening fixture.
The result leaves Boca winless in their last five matches and they haven’t claimed a victory in 90 minute regulation time in their last eight appearances overall.
Union got off to a winning start after claiming a 1-0 victory at home over Estudiantes on Monday. It was an impressive performance and the three points were fully deserved.
The key now will be replicating that type of performance on the road. Union were the only team in Zone A in the Apertura stage to fail to register an away win.
