Blackwater and Magnolia lock horns in this 2026 PBA Governors' Cup clash on Friday. The Bossing have lost eight of their last nine matchups against the Hotshots across all conferences, leading us to support a Magnolia Hotshots victory in our prediction.
Blackwater Bossing could hardly have asked for a stronger start to their 2026 Governors' campaign after an impressive 131–108 victory over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in their opening game. Import Kentrell Barkley stole the spotlight with a terrific Blackwater debut, exploding for a game-high 29 points, adding 15 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists to lead the Bossing to a commanding victory.
However, a far tougher test awaits them on Friday. They have found results hard to come by against Magnolia Hotshots, losing eight of the last nine meetings between the two sides. The Patrick Aquino-led side have also lost four of their last five games dating back to the previous conference.
Magnolia Hotshots surrendered a six-point lead in the opening quarter and eventually fell 98–86 to the Phoenix Fuel Masters in their Governors' Cup opener. Despite that setback, LA Tenorio's side will be confident of returning to winning ways, having dominated this fixture in recent years. They have won four of their last six games since the previous conference.
