Swansea are still reflecting on another failed attempt at promotion, having reached two playoffs in two seasons. They start off another quest with an away match at Blackburn Rovers, looking to get off with a win but 15th placed finishers last season, Blackburn will be eyeing a good start too. Blackburn are coming from three winless outings in preseason though the last two ended in draws, 2-2 against Bolton Wanderers and 1-1 with Leeds United. They have a good scoring run, failing to score in just one of the last five matches, and twice scoring two or more, but both sides have scored in three of their last five matches. In nine meetings between these two sides, Blackburn have claimed just two wins and none of them has been in the last six matches. Four of the last six meetings have ended in draws, and Swansea have two wins.

Swansea will sport a new crest for the 2021/22 season in honor of the 40th anniversary of their first promotion to the top flight but that is not the only change we’ll see from last season. Andre Ayew, their top scorer last season is no longer with the team after failing to clinch promotion. He left for Asia, while full back Conner Roberts and Tivonge Rushesha are out with injury. The Welsh side finished fourth in regular season and will be among favorites for automatic promotion this term. They lost their third and final preseason game, to Southampton 3-1 after earlier wins over Forest Green Rovers and Plymouth Argyle, and heading to this game, they have no clean sheet in five matches.
