After winning the Swiss league title, Basel are going for the Schweizer Pokal. They will be clashing with third-tier side Biel-Bienne in the final this Sunday. We have the preview and a prediction for this match below.

Biel-Bienne finished third in the 1. Liga Promotion and are looking to win their first-ever trophy. In their incredible run to the final, Biel-Bienne eliminated two topflight sides, Lugano and Young Boys.

In the semis, they needed extra time to beat Young Boys 1-0. Malko Sartoretti extended his fine run in the competition with his seventh goal. He will be on show again against the Swiss giants.

The last time Biel-Bienne and Basel met was 14 years ago, and Biel-Bienne emerged victorious. This is Basel’s chance to avenge the loss, and they will be clear favorites.

They’ve just been crowned league champions for the first time since 2016/17. The 13-time Swiss champions are coming from a 4-0 win at home to Luzern. That was their 10th win in a run of 11 matches across all competitions.

Each of their last eight matches ahead of this one produced at least four goals. Even with Basel’s dominance in Swiss football, they have only managed to win the Schweizer Pokal three times.
