Benfica find themselves bottom of Champions League Group G after two defeats. They try to get back on track with a home win over Lyon who are in second place with four points from their two games. The Portuguese club have all the pressure on them after Porto lost in the qualifying rounds. Their campaign began with a 2-1 home defeat by RB Leipzig. Another defeat followed as they were defeated 3-1 away at Zenit Saint Petersburg. Both of their goals have been the final one in the match, so getting a lead would be handy. They need to get a win from this game with a three point gap to third placed RB Leipzig who host Zenit the same night. Benfica are second in their domestic league, a point behind the league leaders. Home form hasn't been as good as it usually is, with only two wins in the last five games. Only one of the last five home games in the Champions League have been won.

Lyon are in second place and they are looking to reach the last sixteen as they did last season. They had to come from behind to get a 1-1 home draw against Zenit but then won 2-0 away at RB Leipzig. Memphis Depay is in good form and has scored in both of the opening two group games for the French side. Lyon are down in 16th place in Ligue 1 and only out of the relegation places on goal difference. They have only won one of their last ten games and away from home have a single victory in five.
