The bottom two in the Belarus Premier League meet in this game. Neither have a point between them with only one goal scored with Belshina in 15th and Gorodeja propping up the table. Belshin are newly promoted to the Premier League after winning the second tier title last season. They have failed to make a good start to their first season in the top flight since 2016. Their season began with a home game against FC Minsk and they took the lead after just seven minutes. However, three second half goals saw Minsk leave with the three points. That defeat was followed by a 1-0 loss at Zhodina meaning they have played nine Premier League games since getting a win.

Gorodeja are bottom of the table and still looking for their first league goal of the new campaign. One of their players has scored though as it was an own goal that gave Vitebsk the 1-0 win over them in their opening game of the season. Another loss followed as they lost 2-0 to Shakhtyor, a defeat that could have been heavier as their opponents missed a first half penalty. It's all a bit of a disappointment after winning three pre-season friendlies.
