Bayern Munich could have sealed their seventh consecutive Bundesliga title last weekend, but a 0-0 draw away to RB Leipzig allowed chasers Borussia Dortmund to regain some ground. Bayern, who are now unbeaten in 12 league outings (W9 D3), do still have a huge advantage in the title race, though. Their superior goal difference means that just a point against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday should be enough to be crowned champions. Coach Niko Kovac can expect no sentiment against his former club going into the weekend – the Eagles are in pursuit of Champions League qualification. Eintracht Frankfurt fell down to sixth last weekend as a second league defeat in a row saw Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen gain a point advantage on them going into the final day. Frankfurt’s scoring numbers have dropped since coach Adi Hutter moved away from an attacking trio and it’s the Bundesliga’s third-top scorer Luka Jovic, who has come out worst. He failed to get on the scoresheet for a fifth consecutive league game against Mainz on Sunday – he did score one in each leg against Chelsea in the Europa League, though – so no doubt they’ll be hoping for some inspiration from him going into the final day. It’s no surprise that Bayern are big favourites here – they have won 38 of the 47 home meetings against Frankfurt after all (81%). However, the over/under goals line is set so high that we do feel that there is still value to be had in this game. Frankfurt have been really struggling for goals of late – in fact, their 25 goals scored since the winter break is the second lowest number of any top half side – and Bayern hold the second-best defensive record in the league. Going off that, it’s reasonable to expect the Eagles to get a single goal some of the time against Bayern, but not too often. Such a conclusion starts to put a bet on ‘under 4.5 goals’ into perspective.
