Augsburg registered a crucial win in their last game beating Werder Bremen to confirm their survival and will be traveling to Bayern Munich in the final week of action. Bayern have been confirmed champions for the ninth straight season and they go to the game on 75 points while Augsburg have 36 points, in 12th place. A bit of laxity was seen in Bayern’s last game as they lost the lead twice, to draw 2-2 away to Freiburg. That was more highlighted by the fact that in the previous game they had thrashed Borussia Monchengladbach 6-0 to seal the title. Robert Lewandowski scored for the third straight game after returning from injury; his fifth goal in three matches took his tally for the season to 40 league goals. This will be Hansi Flick’s last game in charge and Bayern, playing at home, should wrap it up on a positive. They’ve managed just two clean sheets in the last five matches but scored two or more in four of the five matches. At home, they are unbeaten this season and have the most points won at home in the league, at 40.

Augsburg’s win over Bremen was their first in six matches in Bundesliga and they’ve been improving in attack. In three of their last six matches they failed to score but in the last three they’ve scored twice in two and will be hoping for a shocker against Bayern, who aren’t the strongest in defence. They have four losses in their last six matches and it is even worse away from home, with five straight losses in the league and having failed to score in three of the last four. Augsburg haven’t managed more than a goal in 15 away league matches but have failed to score completely in just five of those. Only two of their last 10 away league matches have produced clean sheets, and on only those occasions have they avoided defeat. Away from home this season they’ve managed just four wins in 16 league matches, and lost 10. Augsburg’s tally of 14 points in their away league matches means they are only better than Arminia Bielefeld and relegated Schalke on the road.
