A titanic battle between two teams near the top of the Bundesliga occurs on Tuesday when Bayer Leverkusen host Borussia Dortmund. The two sides are level on 29 points with Leverkusen in third ahead of fourth-placed Dortmund thanks to their superior goal difference. Leverkusen failed to win their last four Bundesliga games, the most recent of which was a 1-0 defeat away to Union Berlin. It is a worrying run, and their home results this season don't make for encouraging reading ahead of this clash. Leverkusen failed to win four of their opening seven Bundesliga matches at the Bay Arena. They have only picked up one victory from their previous four home matches ahead of Dortmund's visit. 

Dortmund also suffered a slip-up at the weekend when they drew 1-1 at home against Mainz. BVB came from behind to get the draw but missed the opportunity to take all three points when Marco Reus failed to convert a second-half penalty. Edin Terzic is still finding his footing as Dortmund manager following the sacking of Lucien Favre last month. His job is Erling Haaland, one of the best forwards in the world. Haaland has 12 goals in 10 appearances this season and is often the difference-maker for Dortmund. Unbeaten in eight of their previous nine away matches, Dortmund are confident on the road. However, they lost on their last visit to Leverkusen, coming out on the wrong end of a 4-3 thriller. The previous five encounters between these teams featured four goals or more. With the way that the two sides attack, we can see a repeat of that tally totting up in midweek. Back over 3.5 goals.
