As they shift gears back to domestic action, the ambition for Villarreal with be to keep their six match unbeaten run across all competitions but to better the run of draws that has been the highlight ion their matches lately, picking five in the six matches. As for Barcelona, it has not been all good the past few matches; they have registered two wins in their last five matches and their last match at home was disastrous, with the Catalans conceding four times in the loss to Real Betis, and their next game ended in a 1 – 1 draw with Atletico Madrid. This, they feel will be the chance to aim for a return to the top of the La Liga standings. Barcelona have conceded in each of their last five matches; their only clean sheets in recent times has come in the Copa Del Rey and Champions League – against Cultural Leonesa and Inter Milan respectively but they have scored in all their matches this season. In La Liga, Barcelona have no clean sheet in the last 11 matches and they have conceded two or more in four of their last six La Liga matches at home. While their last home match ended in disaster, you can’t fault Barcelona’s prowess at Camp Nou. Villarreal, on the other hand, may be unbeaten in six matches but with five draws therein, the general feel is that they will crumble soon, and this may be the moment. Villarreal top their Europa League group and while they remain uncertain of qualification, they have failed to register a consistent run in La Liga. They have managed just three wins in the 13 matches in La Liga this season and have only averaged a goal a game in the league while at the same time averaging just over a goal conceded in the same run. Barcelona will be the fourth top four side they face this season in La Liga and they haven’t won any of the earlier three, losing to Deportivo Alaves and drawing with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
