Barcelona hope to recover from their Clasico defeat with a win when they take on Real Sociedad this weekend. La Blaugrana got knocked off top spot after goals from the unlikely duo of Vinicius Junior and Mariano Diaz. They now trail Real by a point. Meanwhile, La Real arrive at the Camp Nou on the back of a third consecutive league win, a 1-0 home triumph over Valladolid. It places Sociedad sixth in the table, three points off third spot with a game in hand. A dangerous team full of vibrant talent, Sociedad could upset Barcelona at their most vulnerable moment. Missing Suarez and Dembele through injury, Barca looked off the pace at the Bernabeu. Their midfield, usually the cornerstone of a dominating Barca side, looked dishevelled against a hungrier set of midfielders. While Sociedad's away form has been far from spectacular, they did what Barca couldn't and won 4-3 in Madrid against Real last month. That win was as surprising as it was emphatic and should warn punters off dismissing the visiting side.

When the teams last played (a 2-2 draw) in mid-December of 2019, Barcelona were lucky to come away with a point. Once again, their transitioning midfield was shown up.
