It's nearly here. The new English Premier League season is almost with us and Sunday sees the traditional curtain-raiser as the Community Shield takes place between champions Arsenal and FA Cup holders Manchester City. Some see this as just a glorified friendly, but it's a good chance for early bragging rights. and the Gunners would love to get a win. Looking at previous meetings, our prediction is BTTS.
Arsenal finally won the Premier League last season and now they need to defend that title. The summer has seen a few changes and the signing of Bruno Guimaraes may well be a significant addition to their title winning squad. They will also want to go one step further in the Champions League this term.
It's all change at the Etihad with the departure of Pep Guardiola. The Citizens now have former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca in charge and to say he has a difficult act to follow is the understatement of the year, if not the century. City have gone two seasons without winning the Premier League title and they will want to reclaim their crown this season. Winning this won't mean a great deal, but Maresca certainly won't want to see his new team lose to Arsenal.

Arsenal - Manchester City: Form Analysis
Arsenal have played four pre-season friendlies as they prepare for the defence of their Premier League title. The results have been mixed, but poor pre-season results really don't mean too much, especially when players are absent due to the World Cup.
The Gunners started well with a 4-1 win at Girona but then travelled to Dublin, Ireland and were beaten 3-1 by Real Betis. August 9 saw them host Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates, losing that match 3-2.
Their final match before this Community Shield fixture saw them draw 1-1 with Como at the Emirates, losing on penalties. You can see therefore that each of their pre-season friendlies has seen both teams get on the scoresheet.
A new era at the Etihad.
Manchester City have been on their travels with three matches played in Hong Kong and South Korea. Like their opponents, each of their pre-season friendlies has seen both teams score. They drew 1-1 with Inter (losing on penalties), beat K-League All-Stars 3-1 and then had a 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal & Manchester City Squad Analysis
It's been a difficult pre-season for both clubs because they had so many players who were involved in the recent World Cup. That means they have been playing matches without many of those who were on international duty.
Arsenal have all those international players available again now, but so far Rice, Saka and Zubimendi haven't played in pre-season, so might not start this game against Manchester City. They do have some defensive concerns to add to those World Cup absentees. Jurrien Timber and William Saliba will both be missing this Sunday.
Will Guimaraes start for the Gunners?
New signing Bruno Guimaraes made his debut as a sub against Como and could start here.
Erling Haaland was a big success in his first World Cup finals. He has returned to training this week, but is likely to start this match on the bench. Savinho had to miss training during the week and Reijnders appears to be on his way to Saudi Arabia.
Rodri is another player who could be leaving the Etihad but is injured at present. New signing Eliot Anderson is also likely to be on the bench.
