In a crucial match in Group H action of the UEFA World Cup Qualification campaign on Sunday, Austria host Cyprus looking to extend their winning start. This match at Raiffeisen Arena in Linz between the hosting ‘Das Team’ and the visiting Cypriots comes with our prediction of under 3.5 goals.

With six points from two matches played so far, Austria are second in the standings in the group, behind Bosnia and Herzegovina. Cyprus have three points from one win across three matches here. They are only above the bottom-placed San Marino.

Austria haven’t played in the World Cup finals since 1998, and their hopes of breaking that duck are high, as they start the campaign as the highest-ranked side in the group. Winning both qualifiers so far has further boosted their hopes, as they have defeated Romania 2-1 and San Marino 4-0 so far.

Cyprus have never qualified for a major tournament before, and their start to these qualifiers further undermines their chances. They defeated San Marino 2-0 in their first qualifying game before losing 2-1 to Bosnia and 2-0 to Romania in their recent qualifier. Including these, the visitors have lost six of their last nine matches (W2, D1, L6) and may struggle to change the script here, although limiting the losing margin could be their objective.
