These two clubs return to action and have different reasons to make a good start. Augsburg are 14th in the table, hoping to avoid relegation, while seventh  placed Wolfsburg are hopeful of European qualification.  The home side are only five points above the relegation play-off position and were having a rough time of it in the weeks leading up to the Bundesliga being suspended. They had lost three league games in a row, conceding seven goals. Overall, Augsburg have gone five games without a victory with just a single win in the last nine. Home form has produced five league wins but four losses. The last two have seen them fail to get a win and they will be out to get some points to avoid becoming even more involved in the relegation battle.

For Wolfsburg, their aims in the last part of the season is to secure a place in European football next season. The Champions League looks out of reach with a gap of 12 points and they face a battle with sixth place Schalke for the final Europa League qualifying spot (even fifth is ten points away). Of their 25 league games, only nine have been won but the same number have been drawn. That may prove costly come the end of the season. They were in good form at the start of the year with an unbeaten run of six games, though they have no wins in their last three Bundesliga and Europa League games. Their last game was a 2-1 home loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the last sixteen of the Europa League. Five of their away league games have been won and they have no losses in the last three. An away win is the tip for this match.
