A big midweek clash in La Liga sees Atletico Madrid (1st) welcoming Sevilla (6th) to the Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico didn't play at the weekend because a snowstorm in the Spanish capital caused several fixtures to be postponed, including their match against Athletic Bilbao. Los Rojiblancos will be happy despite not playing. Their closest rivals, Real Madrid, failed to take advantage of the postponement, playing out a goalless draw at Osasuna. This turn of events means that Atletico remains one point ahead of Real with three games in hand. A recent exit from the Copa Del Rey was embarrassing because it was at the hands of a third-tier outfit. However, this exit may assist Atletico's La Liga ambitions. Atletico won their last four La Liga matches, two of which were at home. Diego Simeone's side has the best home record in the division, winning seven of the eight games in their surroundings. Atletico have the best defensive record in the top flight, conceding only six goals in 15 games. Sevilla have the next best record, shipping 13 in 16 games. 

Sevilla prepared for this fixture by registering an impressive 3-2 home victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday. Youssef En-Nesyri scored a hat-trick in that match, taking his league tally to eight for the season. Sevilla are now unbeaten in nine games in all competitions. Their away record is even more impressive. Julen Lopetegui's team has won seven of their previous eight away games, the other being a draw. The last three meetings between Atletico and Sevilla finished 1-1. We wouldn't be surprised to see another draw, but we suggest backing under 2.5 goals.
